Zoe Senior TSC Talon Executive Editor
Zoe Senior has never been satisfied by the world she lives in. Instead, she discovered the magic that lies within the pages of a book at a young age.
The catalyst for this love for reading was Harry Potter and it quickly evolved into an obsession with fictional worlds. Even now, you can always find her with her current read in hand.
This love for reading also sparked a love for writing. She realized after starting college that the thrill you get from reading can also be found in writing. She decided to join the Talon because of her love for writing and sharing her work with others.
Zoe plans to finish her AA at TSC. From there she will transfer to either FSU or UF and major in English or Education. She looks forward to writing for the Talon and seeing what this new semester brings.
Maria Garcia TSC Talon Executive Editor
Maria Garcia, a cat mom for two kittens named Leo and Theo, has always been able to relate with their opposite purr-sonalities.
Let’s just say that she is on the two extremes of a personality spectrum defined by cats.
She can be authentic, assertive, and firm like her older cat, Theo, who is also introverted and prefers solitude except when hungry. She can also be like Leo who is clingy but has the shortest attention span due to his chronically and crazily active brain.
The flexibility of Maria’s personality allows her to have better connections with people, hence the desire to deliver news and writings that may call to them or inform them about social events, issues, and agendas imperative to student and individual lives.
She wants to spend her years in TSC serving her fellow students to prepare for her Pharmacy journey, which requires not only science but also human interactions.
Anna Bullock TSC Talon Executive Editor
Anna Bullock has always had a creative side. Ever since her second-grade teacher pointed out that she had a knack for writing, she has delved fully into that world.
Participating in writing summer camps and journalism classes alike has always made her feel in her element. By high school, she was a leader in her TV Production class, writing and producing news stories for her school and for competition.
Here, with inspiration and guidance from her teachers and peers, she discovered her passion for storytelling.
The guidance that Anna received throughout her education is what sparked her enthusiasm for her career goals. In trying to succeed in that goal, Anna is completing one semester at Tallahassee State College and transferring to Florida State University in the spring, majoring in Media/Communication studies. She hopes that one day she can produce high-profile news stories professionally.
Kimberly Simpkins TSC Talon Opinions Editor
Having lived in the woods for the better part of seven years, Kimberly Simpkins knows how to survive—many things.
Born and raised in Tallahassee, they were raised between two households, as their parents had divorced when they were two. So, in a way, they became adept in adapting early on.
They are an avid reader, lifelong learner, worldly visioner, cheerleader for the underdog, and an extroverted introvert. In this second chapter of their life, they want to honor the memory of their recently deceased mother and make their grandparents and father proud, who died long ago.
Most of all they want to be the best example for their grown daughter and a better version for everyone they meet. They came back to TCC (TSC) to study animation and game design but, just as importantly, to figure out what they want to be when they grow up.

As a competent communicator, Dickey enjoys public speaking, reading books, and hosting community events that help empower our youth to become prominent members of society.
River Leiterman TSC Talon Staff Member
River Leiterman was always moving growing up. Because of this, she never had a place to call home. Never had anything that was truly constant. As she got older, she discovered she enjoyed writing. Writing was the one thing she could control. It was constant. When things got tough, she would pour her emotions into words on paper.
By high school, she had gone to a different school almost every single year. By this point she had so many first drafts, final revisions, and everything in between. Hoping to publish her work one day, she began entering her work into contests.
Winning awards felt amazing. This gave her the confidence she needed. As she continues with her college education, she is working on her very first book. River can’t wait to see where her story takes her.
Sierra Smallwood TSC Talon Staff Member
Sierra Smallwood would grow up hearing stories of how she took her first steps during Hurricane Charley. Being born and raised in a small town in Florida is an experience she would forever be grateful for and shaped her into the person she is today.
Sierra has always had a love for teaching and a passion for journalism. This is why she enrolled in early childhood and TV production classes throughout middle and high school. Her favorite part about these classes was getting to explore her creativity.
Sierra struggles with social anxiety and found both of these helped her come out of her shell. She graduated with her certificate to teach at any VPK and naturally chose to pursue elementary education as her college major.
After many courses and assistant teaching volunteer hours, Sierra became apprehensive about whether this is what she wanted to do career wise for the rest of her life. That said, she decided to explore other routes and register for a journalism course. Depending on how this year goes, Sierra plans to change her major and transfer into FSU.
